Dawn of Solace by Huussii Dawn of Solace by Huussii
..And the dawn breaks once again.

Humanization of Celestia to accompany the Nightmare Moon I already did.

I enjoyed this one even more though and gave it double the time I gave for Nightmare Moon. Still going with fantasy style, and this time a bit more fancy in terms of design.

Once again I felt the pain of female face. I wanted her to look benevolent and forever-young whatnot so pretty much every brush stroke was pretty damn painful to execute.

I guess these two are enough humans for a while.

OH fuck you internet. Just came to realize the another meaning of "Morning glory". Well, I name it after the song by Cain's Offering then to avoid your pervy little minds.

This is a very nice piece in my opinion, and I genuinely like it. I do, however, get the sense that you left some things unfinished.

You utilize the space well. It does not feel cluttered or cramped, and it isn't a flurry of confusing activity. Also, the background isn't just an empty void, with the spires of distant towers and buildings and clouds. Thus, there is a good sense of depth and perspective to this piece. As I've said in a comment, I really like your attention to detail for Celestia's magic and her metal collar. For the most part, Celestia and Philomeena are very detailed, and your overall shading and value is very good. Like you said, it's difficult to make faces look right, but I think you did a good job making Celestia's face actually look feminine.

Aside from Celestia, I feel as though you left this piece somewhat unfinished. It is rough with jagged edges and, for me, this draws attention away from Celestia a little, at least when looking at objects in the foreground such as the balcony she's standing on. It is not as big of an issue for the background though, since it is not the focus of the piece. Celestia's wings seem somewhat large compared to Celestia herself. Also, compared to the detail given to Celestia and her clothing, her wings seem too rough and perhaps do not fit with the rest of her as well as they should.

Overall, I feel that with a little more effort or time put into it you could have made this piece look even better.
I hope this critique was constructive and not too nit-picky.

Though I possess no real ability to do anything like the picture displayed here, I still have the visual skill to at the very least... critique the work.

I cannot tell you how simply wonderful it is to see such a work on dA, as there are only a few(As compared to the enitre community) that can do what we all have displayed here- your Deviation. I must say, the color combination, and mix is more than astonishing, as the detail placed in her clothing is simply marvelous. It is almost breath-taking... Canterlot, which I'm assuming is in the background, looks well done. and the lighting effects fits near perfectly.

However, it seems that Malimar(The latest review I am able to see) Is correct, though Canterlot is the background, it does seem to pull your eyes away from Celestia, and draw attention more toward the cityscape. Also, her wings seem a tad bit large in my opinion, and very rugged, a little sharp, and possibly too rustled at the very top. The balcony as well, could have used maybe something displayative under where she stands... as it seems to have just a big blank spot of black's, to light tan-gold colors, and ends just there.

There seem to be numerous things I cannot seem to critisize, nor openly accept. The Pheonix, her hair, and the sky. They seem in place, but I cannot say much more than this. Not to say they are not well done. What I believe however, is perhpas someone else with a higher level grading technique could find more to say. Also, though the artwork is quite adept in skill, I have a dead nuetral 2.5 stars from it, as this does not openly surprise me that someone would attempt to do practically anything in relation to humanizing Celestia. Good or bad Is not what I'm trying to get at, it is very good, just not... "Wow!", material, at least in my own opinion.

You've done very well.

Brilliant piece, absolutely beautiful and epic in scope and design. Though I am a bit curious as how how Celestia's wings work in this piece.

This looks like something out of D&D or MTG. And i mean that in the most positive way possible. I'm personally amazed (but then it doesn't take much since i have no skills in art)

Beautiful! Absolutely fantastic. I like your style. It's detailed, but not over the top. <3

Wow, this wonderful, I love the amount of detail you put into Celestia's jewelery. The robes are great too, that was a clever touch incorparating the teal and purple colours of her mane into the sash and under-robe. Overall I think you've done an excellent job, Celestia looks majestic, wise and powerful with an almost motherly appearance, simply spot-on.
